DECORATIVE PLANTS

DECORATIVE PLANTS, the species of cultural and wild plants used in phyto design. In Bashkortostan there are more than 70 species of dendroflora used for landscaping, including those belonging to the flora of the Republic (spruce, pine, spiraea, dogrose, etc), as well as some species of other natural zones (chestnuts, thuya, etc). Adonises, carnation, windflowers and others, belonging to the wild herbal flora of the Republic, are used as D.p. Perennial plants, such as irises, peony, tulips and others are cultivated in the Republic. The group of decorative biennial plants include Hesperis Sibirical, orostachys spinosa, etc. About 500 D.p. species were discovered in the Republic, out of which more than 140 are included in The Red List of the RB (Cypripedium guttatum, Iris pseudacorus, Fritillaria ruthenica, etc, relict species: Gentiana decumbens, Phlox sibirica, Linum uralense, etc, endemic species: Dian­ thus uralensis, Hedysarum grandiflorum, etc). Systematic study of D.r. is conducted in the Biology Institute, the Botanical Garden Institute, etc.
