EMPLOYMENT OF POPULATION, human activities, as a rule, income generating, related to satisfaction of their personal and social needs.

The number of RB population employed in manufacturing, building and transportation industries in Bashkortostan decreased in the 2000s, while the number of employees of agricultural, trade, catering, sales, credit, finance and insurance economic sectors increased. New forms of employment related to commercial market operations and real estate operations emerged. There is an increase in the number of people employed in enterprises with private and mixed forms of ownership. The ratio of E.p. was 61.9% in 2011, of economically active population — 67.1%. Out of 128.3 thous. people who applied to the state for employment services in 2011, 68.8% were employed, out of 88.6 thous. in 2016 — 69.3%. The number of unemployed population amounted to 123.8 thous. people in 2015, 115.1 thous. — in 2016; the overall unemployment rate was 5.7% (for economically active population), in Russia — 5.4%, in the republic — 6.1%. The number of employed population was 1,915.1 thous. people (63.7%). City and rural areas employment centers of RB received 17,465 applications for the provision of state services in January 2017.
