LENIN (Ulyanov), Vladimir Ilyich (22.4.1870, Simbirsk – 21.1.1924, Posyolok Gorki of Moscow Gub.) Revolutionary Leader, Political and Social Activist. Graduated from the St. Petersburg University (1891). Participated in the creation of St. Petersburg Union for the Struggle for the Liberation of the Working Class People. In December 1895 was arrested; since March 1897 in exile. In 1900 L. twice (in February and June) visited Ufa, where he met with the exiled Social Democrats. Between 1900–05 and 1907–17, in emigration. In July–August, 1903, headed the fraction of the Bolsheviks at the 2nd Congress of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (Brussels and London). One of the leaders of the October Armed Uprising in Petrograd (ref. Revolution of 1917). Since 1917, Chairman of the Council of People’s Comissars. Simultaneously, since 1918 Chairman of the Council of Labour and Defence of the RSFSR. Member of Russian Central Executive Committee and Central Executive Committee of the Soviet Union. On March 20th, 1919, signed the Agreement of the Central Soviet Power with the Bashkir Government on the Soviet Autonomous Bashkiriya. On May 19th, 1920, signed the Russian Central Executive Committee and Council of People’s Commissars’ Decree On the State System of the Autonomous Soviet Bashkir Republic.
