LITERARY LANGUAGE Bashkir, the historically developed form of the existence of the Bashkir language. In the history of the Bashkir L.l., there is a pre-national (13th – 2nd half of 19th centuries) and national (since the end of 19th century) phases (ref. Dialects of the Bashkir language). A significant impact on the democratization of the L.l. had the creative work of Akmulla and M.I.Umetbayev. Since the end of the 19th century, attempts have been made to create the Bashkir alphabet based on the Cyrillic alphabet. After the Revolution of 1917, the L.l. underwent intensive changes, based on the Eastern and Southern dialects. In the 20—30s, the norms of the modern L.l. were established; its spelling was developed; the scope of the application of the L.l. in the society broadened. In the 40—50s, the codification of the L.l. occurred, the key functional styles and terminology were developed; later the L.l. stabilized and its interaction with other languages enhanced. The development of L.l. was accompanied by the compilation of Alifba, dictionaries, textbooks and is reflected in the works of Bashkir literature and mass media.
