ORE MINERAL DEPOSITS

ORE MINERAL DEPOSITS, areas on the surface or under Earth’s crust, having ore deposits, suitable for industrial development in terms of their size, quality and conditions of occurrence. They are represented by ferrous ores (iron, chrome, manganese), non‑ferrous ores (copper, aluminum, zinc, lead, etc), rare, radioactive and noble metals. 104 ore deposits were registered in Bashkortostan, including 19 iron, 1 manganese, 21 complex copper-sulphide, 3 bauxite, 13 gold ore (gold proper), 46 gold placer and 1 technogenic deposits.

Bashkortostan is 2nd best in the Ural economic district in terms of the reserves and mining of the ores, containing iron pyrites, copper sulphides and other non-ferrous metals. The largest O.m.d. are Makanskoye, Oktyabrskoye, Sibaiskoye, Uchalinskoye, Yubileinoye, where ore is mined in an open pit. Secondary iron ores from exogenetic deposits (Beloretsky Raion), represented by dense brown iron and loose ochreous varieties of diverse composition, quantity of iron content, quantity of useful (nickel, cobalt, manganese, tungsten, etc) and harmful (sulfur, phosphorus, zinc, lead, etc) impurities, and a variety of conditions of formation, play an industrial role in the Republic. Key ore minerals: oxides, hydrooxides, carbonates, iron silicates. There are known manifestations of hematite‑magnetite ores in metamorphized Riphean formations (Beloretsky and Uchalinsky raions) that have no industrial value. The largest iron ore area in the Republic is Zigazino‑Komarovsky. The largest deposit is Tukanskoye. Manganese ores occur on the western and eastern slopes of the South Urals. Ore is found on the western slope in the coal and Perm sediments of Arkhangelsky, Duvansky and other raions (the Ulu‑Telyakskoye Deposit has an industrial value); on the eastern slope it is found in the Devonian sediments of Abzelilovsky, Uchalinsky and other raions (they have no industrial value). Aluminium ores are represented by the bauxites of the South Ural basin, associated with the eluvial, sedimentary and karst sediments of Devon. The Uluirskoye‑I Deposit has been explored. Gold placers are found in the form of natural alloys with silver with impurities in the extensive gold‑bearing belt in Abzelilovsky, Khaybullinsky and Baymaksky raions. Gold ore deposits are located within the Western Ural and Eastern Ural metallogenic provinces.
