PATRIOTIC WAR OF 1812
PATRIOTIC WAR OF 1812, the liberation war of Russia against France. More than 20 thous. people from Bashkortostan participated in the war. On the Orenburg Gub. territory the following troops were formed: 1–20th Bashkir Cavalry, Butyrsky, Vilmanstrandsky, Rylsky Ufa Infantry troops, 25th, 26th, 29–31st Chasseurs, 1st and 2nd Meshcheryaksky, Orenburg Dragoon, 1–5th Orenburg Cossack, Infantry Regiment, 1st and 2nd Teptyarsky Regiments, 1–5th Ural Regiments. The Bashkirs donated 4139 combat horses to the army. Bashkirs, Mishars and Teptyars contributed 500 thous. rubles, noblemen of Orenburg Gub. – 65 thous., Ufa merchants and bourgeois – 2 thous. rubles for the needs of the Army. Military formations of Bashkortostan participated in the battles near Grodno and near Mestechko Mir of Minsk Gub., near Vilno of Lithuanian-Vilenskaya Gub., near Mestechko Romanovo of Mogilyovsk Gub. and Derevnya Molevo Boloto of Smolensk Gub., near Kobrin of Grodno Gub., in Smolensk and Borodino battles, in battles on the territory of Kaluga and Moscow guberniyas, battle near Slonim, seizure of Mestechko Svisloch, battle near Derevnya Mstibovo of Grodno Gub., in battle near Maloyaroslavets, near the Berezina River (inflow of the Dnepr River), etc. The French Army in the middle of December 1812, was expelled from the territory of Russia, and was finally defeated during the Foreign Campaigns of the Russian Army of 1813–14. Many participants of the campaigns were awarded with In Memory of the War of 1812 orders and medals. Monuments, dedicated to the Bashkir soldiers – participants of the war – are installed in the RB and Moscow Oblast. The participation of the Bashkirs in the war was reflected in the following songs: Lyubizar, Kakhym-Turya, etc.
