OKHLEBININSKAYA CAVE
OKHLEBININSKAYA CAVE, a natural monument (1965). Located on the right slope of the Belaya River at the Aktash Stow, 3 km E of Derevnya Okhlebinino of Iglinsky Raion. Length – 146 m, depth – 18 m, aver. width – 37 m, aver. height – 4.8 m (max. up to 9 m), area – 5,410 m2, volume – 21,100 m3. The entrance to the cave, located at the bottom of the karst hole, passes into a steep gallery. There is an underground lake 20 m from the entrance (freezing to the bottom). The gallery opens into a hall, on the floor of which there is a boulder heap. The ceiling is vaulted, ribbed. In the upper part of the northern wall there are interbeds of green and gray sandstone. The hall in the east is followed by a gallery, the floor is composed of the fragments of gypsum and clay. The temperature in the cave in summer is approx. 6°C, in winter up to ‑3°C. Ice on the ceiling and on the walls stays until July. Near O.C. there is an Okhlebininsky Archaeological Complex.
