TAGANOV, Galimyan Girfanovich, Tagan Galimdzhan [1.1.1892, Derevnya Tanrykulovo of Chelyabinsky Uyezd of Orenburg Gub. (Almenevsky Raion of Kurgan Obl.) — 29.6.1948, Hamburg, Germany], Participant of the Bashkir National Movement, Ethnographer and Museologist. Dr. of Economics (1929). Participant of the First World War and the Civil War. Graduated from the Tiflis Warrant Officers School (1914), Agricultural Academy (Debrecen, Hungary, 1927). Was in the Russian Army between 1914—17 and 1919—20. One of the leaders of the Bashkir Army between 1918—19. In 1920, he served as Lieutenant Colonel in the Rus. Eastern Suburbs Armed Forces. Since June, 1918 – the representative of the Bashkir Government in the Committee of People’s Power in Chelyabinsk and a Member of the Bashkir Military Council. Since July, the Acting Commander of the 5th and, since September – the Commander of the 3rd Bashkir Infantry regiments. Since June, 1920 – the Сhief of Staff of the Military and National Administration of the Bashkirs in the Russia’s Eastern borderlands (Chita). Since November – in emigration. Since 1927, he worked at the Ethnographic Department of the National Museum of Hungary, in Budapest, and since 1945 — in Hamburg University, Germany.
