TAJUDDIN (Tajuddinov) Talgat Safich

TAJUDDIN (Tajuddinov) Talgat Safich (b.12.10.1948 in Kazan), religious leader, the Chairman of the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia (since 1980), Shaykh al-Islam (since 1990), and Supreme Mufti of Russia (since 1992). Awarded with the 4^th Class Order for Merits to the Fatherland (2013), the Order of Honour (2008), the Order of Friendship (1998), the Order of the Peoples Friendship (2008), the 2nd Class Order of Glory and Honour (2013), the 2nd Class Order of the Holy Blessed Knyaz (Prince) Daniil (Daniel) of Moscow (2008), etc. Graduated from the Mir-Arab Madrassa in Bukhara (1973) and Al-Azhar University in Cairo (1978). In 1973 the Second and in 1978—80 the First Imam Khatib of the Kazan Grand Mosque. Chairman of the Association of Foreign Relations of Muslim Organizations of the CIS (since 1990), Member of the Council for Cooperation with Religious Associations under the President of the RF (since 1995), Member of the Praesidium of the Interreligious Council of Russia (since 1998; all institutions mentioned above are situated in Moscow), Member of the Islamic Coordination Council of the Islamic Conference Organization in Jiddah, Saudi Arabia (since 2005), etc.
