UCHILISHCHE
UCHILISHCHE, vocational, as well as some higher educational institutions in Russia; before the Revolution of 1917 — primary, secondary vocational and professional training schools. Since 1930s U. (of Medical, Music, Culture, Education, Teachers training etc) were created in place of tekhnikums. During the 1990s, most U. were transformed into colleges or lyceums.
In Bashkortostan, the first U. were: the Main People’s Uchilishche, the Minor People’s Uchilishches. There were: Military Aviation Surveillance U., Military Infantry U., the Higher Military Aviation U. of Pilots. In 2005, in the RB, there were: 9 secondary vocational U., 123 vocational schools and lyceums, in 2008 — 4 and 111 respectively.
