ELTSIN, Boris Mikhailovich
ELTSIN, Boris Mikhailovich (1875, Zvenigorodka of Kiev Gub. – 27.11.1937), Soviet Communist Party Activist. Member of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party since 1897. Graduated from the Novo‑rossiysky University (Odessa, 1898). He was exiled to Ufa Gub. for his revolutionary activities. Since 1918 Chairman of the Ufa Gub. Executive Committee, simultaneously, since April – of the Ufa Gub. Council of People’s Commissars and Gub. Revolutionary Committee, Member of the Board of the NKVD of the RSFSR. Since 1919 Representative of the RSFSR Council of People’s Commissars for the organization of the Soviet Power in Ufa Gub., since June Chairman of Gub. Revolutionary Committee, Gub. Executive Committee and Secretary of the Gub. Committee of the RCP(b). He opposed the autonomy of Bashkortostan. Since 1920 in Moscow: Member of the Board of the Main Political and Educational Committee of the RSFSR, Dir. of the Krasnaya Nov (Red Modernity) Publishing House, since 1925 Chairman of the Council for the Study of Productive Forces of the Gosplan (State Plan) of the RSFSR. Between 1929–32, he was imprisoned. In 1936, he was subjected to political purges and executed by shooting. Rehabilitated in 1956.
