GABDIEV Shagargazi Shagibalovich
GABDIEV Shagargazi Shagibalovich (9.12. 1898–5.7.1979), Bashkir poetimproviser. He participated in the First World War, the Civil War, the SovietFinnish War of 1939–40, and the Great Patriotic War. He spoke Turkish, Arabic, and Persian. Collected materials on Bashkir folklore and toponymy (some published during the life of the author). G. is most known for his beyets, where he calls on the Bashkirs to gain knowledge. “Beyet about KaragayUzyak” (1913) is based on the events related to the sale of ancestral lands of the Bashkirs. “Beyet about the War of 1914–1917”, “Beyet about the Fam ine”, etc are devoted to the tragic events of the early 20th century. The works “Beyes about the War of 1941–1945”, “Victory”, etc glorify the exploits and patriotism of Soviet soldiers as well as the friendship of peoples. Part of the works of G. and the recorded versions of Bashkir folk songs “Perovsky”, “Syrdarya”, “Yulgotlo,” etc were included in the collections “Bashkort khalyk izhady” and “Bashkir folk art”. G.’s manuscripts are stored in the scientific archive of the Ufa Federal Research Center of RAS.
