JINGLING VALLEY
“JINGLING VALLEY”, is a Bashkir ethnic song, uzun-kuy. The legend and poetic lyrics were first registered in the 1930’s. By M.A. Burangulov, they are published in “Bashkir ethnic art. songs” collection (book 1, 1974) by S.A. Galin. The song is lyrical and psychologi cal. According to one of the versions, its origin is connected with the story that happened in Sanly uzyak lands (between Starobalapanovo village and Novobalapanovo village, Abzelilov skiy District, RB). Kubagushbatyr and his wife decided to stay here for winter. In the absence of Kubagush a kazakh batyr stole his wife. The husband went to find his wife and found them sleeping together. He kills the kazakh in a duel. Kubagush asked Ishmukhamet-sesen to com pose a song about this dramatic story. The po etic lyrics combine Kubagush’s worries with descriptions of nature. The distinctive features of the chant are the double repetition of the up per supported sound in the beginning of the phrase, moderate ornament, polymetric beat.
