CENTER OF FOLK ART r e g i o n a l. Located in Ufa. Established in 1937 in order to preserve, develop, and promote the cultural heritage of the Bashkirs, Belarusians, Mordovians, Mari, Russian, Udmurt, Ukrainian, Chuvash, and other ethnicities living on the territory of RB; organize the cultural pastime of the population; promote the development of amateur art. It has branches in Neftekamsk (since 1998) and Belebey (2005). C.F.A. holds holidays, contests, and festivals; the Aksakov festival with the participation of famous poets and writers of Bashkortostan and Russia, descendants of S.T. Aksakov; the festival of folk poetry “Springs of inspiration” (Belebey), “Holiday of shezhere bayramy” (see. Shezhere), regional festival of children’s art “Yeyegor–Rainbow”, interregional festival of dance “Big Ural’s rhythms of time”, the regional festival of children’s folk dance “Round dance of friendship”, etc. C.F.A. incorporates the Center of Sesens. C.F.A. has partnered with the historical-cultural centers, ethnic cultural centers, V. D. Polenov State Russian House of Folk Art (Moscow), Institute of history, language and literature, M. Akmulla Pedagogical University, UNESCO, etc., public organizations of the Russian regions, CIS, and far abroad.
