EICHENWALD Anton Aleksandrovich (13.5. 1875–1952), composer, conductor, folklorist, music and public figure. For more than 20 years, he collected Bashkir ethnic songs and tunes, as well as studied Bashkir ethnic music. More than 4,000 samples of song folklore of the peoples of the Volga region and Central Asia collected by him are stored in the collections of M.I. Glinka State Central Museum (Moscow). Some of his works: opera “Mergen” (1940) based on the epic “Mergen and Mayankhylu”, “Ashkadar” (1941) based on the namesake drama by M.A. Burangulov, treatments of Bashkir and Tatar folk melodies for symphony orchestra.
