BAKHTIYAR KANKAYEV
BAKHTIYAR KANKAYEV, Participant of the Peasant War of 1773—75, Pugachyov’ Brigadier. Between December 1773 — January 1774, B. formed rebel troops on the territory of Kazan Doroga. Together with Salavat Yulayev B. operated near the Krasnoufimskaya Fortress and surrounding plants. B.K.’s brigade participated in the seizure of the Nizh. Saranin Plant and Krasnoufimskaya Fortress. Since June 1774, B.K. ensured the advancement of Ye.I.Pugachyov’s Army from Krasnoufimskaya Fortress to Kazan; participated in the seizure of Birsk. After defeat of the rebel troops near Kazan, B.K. watched the back of the rebels as they retreated beyond the Volga River. On July 27th 1774, near De revnya Zyuri of Kazan Gub. the B.K. troops were defeated by the government troops. His future life events are unknown.
