KAIBYSHEV, Oskar Akramovich (28.3.1939, Moscow — 2.6.2007, Antalya, Turkey, buried in Ufa), Metal Physicist. Acad. of the AS RB (1991), Dr. of Engineering (1976), Full Professor (1977). Merited Scientist of the BASSR (1979). Awarded with the Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1980), the 2nd Class Order for Merits to the Fatherland (1999). On graduation from the Steel and Alloy Institute in Moscow (1962) worked at B.O. Box No.20 (Ufa) till 1964. Between 1967—2006 worked in USATU, at the same time since 1980 Dir. of the design‑engineering bureau Tantal (Ufa). Between 1986—2006 Dir. of the Institute for Metal Superplasticity Problems, at the same time between 1991—94 President of the AS RB. Since 2007 has lived and worked in Moscow. His research activity was dedicated to the physics of strength and plasticity ofstructuralmaterials, technology of products shaping through deformation. K. discovered the phenomenon of non‑equilibrium grain boundaries formation in polycrystals as they absorb lattice dislocations (jointly with R.Z.Valiyev). Deputy of the 11th session of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.
