EARLY PRINTED BOOK

EARLY PRINTED BOOK, a monument of book culture; published during a certain period after the appearance of book printing; it has design similarities with a handwritten book. The majority of the E.p.b., stored in the collections of books and manuscripts, were collected in the 20th century; the earliest of them refer to the 18th century. They are written in the Arabic and Persian languages, in the Turki of the Ural‑Volga Region; they are published in the printing houses of Bashkortostan, Kazan, Moscow, St.Petersburg, and the countries of the Central Asia. E.p.b. are mainly of the religious content (Koran and comments thereto, Hadith collections, books on the theoretic foundations and history of Islam, etc); the works of the Bashkir and Tatar literature (Akmullah, Sh.Babich, M.Gafuri, G.Tukay, R.F.Fakhretdinov, etc); scientific works on astronomy, natural sciences, history, linguistics, literary studies, medicine, pedagogics, philosophy (M.M.Biksurin, M.A.Kulayev, S.G.Mryasov, et al.), etc. E.p.b. are listed and stored; their majority is in the Collection of Arabographic Manuscripts and Early Printed Books named after G.B.Husainov of the Institute of History, Language and Literature.
