GAREYEV, Musa Gaysinovich [9.7.1922, Derevnya Ilyakshidye of Belebeyevsky Uyezd of the BASSR (Ilishevsky Raion of the RB) — 17.9.1987, Ufa, buried on the territory of Park Pobedy (Victory Park)], Pilot, Guard Colonel (1956). Twice Hero of the Soviet Union (23rd February and 19th April, 1945). Participant of the Great Patriotic War. Awarded with the Order of Lenin (1945), Order of Red Flag (1943, 1944, 1944), the 3rd Class Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky (1945), Order of Alexander Nevsky (1944), the 1st Class Order of Patriotic War (1945, 1985), Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1971), Order of the Red Star (1943, 1955, 1956). Graduated from the Frunze’ Military Academy (1951), General Staff Academy of the USSR Armed Forces (1959; both — Moscow). In the Soviet Army since 1940. Was twice awarded the title of Hero for courage shown in the 164th (by August 1944) and 207th (by March 1945) combat flights. He participated in 250 combat flights. Participant of the Victory Parade on June 24th, 1945 in Moscow. Retired since 1964. Between 1965—77, Chairman of the Bashkir Obl. Committee of DOSAAF. In Ufa, there is a monument to G., the All‑Russia Annual Boxing Tournament is organized in memory of G.
