GASHEK, Yaroslav
GASHEK, Yaroslav (30.4.1883, Prague — 3.1.1923, City Lipnica, Czechoslovakia), Czech Writer. Author of the novel the Аdventures of the Brave Soldier Schweik During the World War (1921—1923, unfinished) and satirical stories and feuilletons. Between 1918—19, he worked in Ufa: Head of the Nash Put newspaper printing house. This newspaper was the political organ of the Fifth Army Political Department. Also, during these years was the Head of Ufa Organization of Foreign Communists and Chief Editor at the Krasnaya Evropa newspaper. In March 1919, he was evacuated to Belebey. In 1919, the following feuilletons by G. were published in the Nash Put newspaper: From the Diary of the Ufa Bourgeois, About the Ufa Robber named Bulakulin the Shopkeeper, The Diary of Malyuta, The Priest, Ivan Ivanovich of Ufa, etc. His works were translated into the Bashkir language by G.G.Bayburin.
