GILYAZEV, Gabdulla Gabdrakhmanovich [1.2.1930, Selo Kanly-Turkeyevo of Belebeyevsky Canton of the BASSR (Buzdyaksky Raion of the RB) — 7.1.1997, Ufa], Actor, Director, Teacher. Merited Artist of the RSFSR (1973). Laureate of the BASSR Award named after Salavat Yulayev (1981) and Award named after G.Salyam (1976). Awarded with the Order of Peoples’ Friendship (1981), Order of the Badge of Honour (1971). Graduated from Bashk. Theatre Art School (1948), GITIS (1959). Since 1948, he worked as an actor at Yumaguzino, Baymak, Aurgazy kolkhoz sovkhoz theatres; between 1951—54 — an Actor, since 1959 — director and stage director at BSAT; since 1964 — Deputy Ministry of Culture of the BASSR, between 1967—83 — Chief Stage Dir. at the Republican Drama Theatre, between 1960—63 — a Teacher at the Ufa School of Arts, 1968—97 — USIA. He made a great contribution to the development of the theatrical art of Bashkortostan. At the Russian Drama Theatre, he staged over 50 plays in the traditions of the Russian theatre school. On the initiative of G., the Youth Theatre was reopened (ref. National Youth Theatre).
