GIMAYEV, Irek Faritovich

GIMAYEV, Irek Faritovich (b.2.9.1957, Derevnya Sukkulovo of Dyurtyulinsky Raion of the BASSR), Athlete. Merited Master of Sports (ice hockey) of the USSR (1982). Awarded with the Order of the Badge of Honour (1982). A trainee of the Salavat Yulayev School (Coach – M.M. Azamatov). He played in Salavat Yulayev (1974–79) teams Central Sports Club of the Army (1979–87) teams. Between 1987–91, he competed for the club of Japan, between 1991–92 – Slovenia. The World Champion (1979, 1982–83) and European Champion (1979, 1982–83, 1985), the European (1979–86) and the Canadian (1981) Champions Cup Winner. Winner of the International Tournaments for the Izvestiya Newspaper Prize (1981, 1984). The World Champion among juniors (1977), European Champion (1976) among junior men. Member of the USSR National Team (1977–85).
