FUNGI

FUNGI, a kingdom of living organisms. There are more than 100 thous. species known, out of which over 10 thous. inhabit the RB. Some F. in symbiosis with seaweeds form lichens. There are more than 150 species known in the Republic, about 50 are edible F. (white mushroom, red pine mushroom, butter mushroom, etc) and about 20 are poisonous F. (death cup, brick tuft, fly amanita, etc). Portobello mushroom and oyster mushroom are cultivated in the RB. Hericium coralloides, parasol mushroom, violet webcap, liver leaf hepatica, Sarcodon imbricatus, Sarcoscypha coccinea, Pholiota flammans, Agaricus bernardii are included in The Red List of the RB; Polyporus umbellatus and Sparassis crispa are also included in The Red List of the RF.
