ANSERIFORMES
ANSERIFORMES, an order of birds. There are 2 known families and about 150 know species. There are 33 species of Anatidae family in the RB. Waterfowl, migratory birds of large (swans with body length up to 180 cm, and body mass up to 13.6 kg) and medium (common teal with body length up to 38 cm and body mass up to 0.4 kg) sizes. They inhabit areas near reservoirs, river floodplains with wooded banks. They are spread throughout the whole territory of the Republic. Many A. are game animals. Most of the domestic geese and duck breeds evolved from the grey goose and mallard duck. The Red List of the RB includes 6 species of A., which are white eyed pochard, red breasted goose, whooping swan, shelduck, sheldrake, scoter, the first two and the lesser white fronted goose are also included in The Red List of the RF.
