DZHEMILEV, Usein Memetovich (b.15.5. 1946 in Selo Osmana Yusupova of the Uzbek SSR), Organic Chemist. Associate Member of the RAS (1990), Acad. of the AS RB (1991), D.Sci. (Chemical Sciences) (1977), Full Professor (1983). Merited Master of Sciences of the BASSR (1984). Laureate of the State Awards in the Field of Science and Technology of the USSR (1990) and of the RF (2003), the Award of Bashkir Komsomol (1979). Awarded with the 1st (2011) and 2nd (1999) Class Order for Merits to the Fatherland, the Order of Salavat Yulaev (2016). Graduated from the Kazakh Chemical Technology Institute (1968). Between 1970–91, he worked in the Institute of Chemistry (since 1981 Deputy Dir.); since 1992 – in the Institute of Petrochemistry and Catalysis (Dir. until 2016); simultaneously, between 1993–2006 Deputy Chairman, between 2011–16 Chairman of the Presidium of the USC RAS. D. discovered catalytic reactions of ethylmagnesiumimpact and cycloplating of olefins and acet ylenes. One of the founders (in cooperation with Prof. G.A.Tolstikov) of the scientific school of metal complex catalysis in organic and organometallic synthesis. Technologies for the production of norbornadiene, chloronorbornene, etc were developed and introduced in the industry under the leadership of D. (OAO Salavatnefteorgsintez), microspheric catalysts for ethylene oxychlorination (OAO Bashkir Soda Company); he invented alternative technologies for producing immunostimulants (bisol, kuprobisan, etc), reagents for the petroleum industry, fungicides (bazanas), etc.
