DOMASHNIKOV, Boris Fyodorovich (5.4.1924, Derevnya Krigozovo of Ivanovo-Voznesenskaya Gub. — 20.6.2003, Ufa), Painter. Associate Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (1996). People’s Artist of the USSR (1982) and RSFSR (1975), Distinguished Artist of the RSFSR (1965), Merited Artist of the BASSR (1965). Laureate of the BASSR Award named after Salavat Yulayev (1977). Awarded with the Order of the Badge of Honour (1967). One of the masters of landscape painting techniques in Bashkortostan and Russia between 1960—90s. D.’s works are distinguished by subtle lyricism and compositional rhythm, they reflect harmonious and poetically emotional world perception of the artist. Lyricism determine the emotional content of such series as Around the Southern Urals, started in the 2nd half of the 50s, and paintings May Birch Forest, Autumn. Electric Train, etc. Since the 2nd half of the 60s, the artist creatively processes and applies the painting methods of impressionism: a light fractional smear gives the paintings airiness and tremulous emotionality. His works in the 70s look much more decorative and cheerful due to colours choice. A street in Ufa was named after D.
