ANCIENT UFA

ANCIENT UFA, a Republican history and culture museum and reserve. Located in Ufa. Founded in 2011 in order to preserve, popularize and study the Gorodishche Ufa II archeological artifact of federal significance. Dating back to the 4th and 14th centuries AD, this artifact is the main cultural heritage site for the museum. Opened in 1953 by a local historian, P.F.Ishcherikov. Excavations were supervised by N.A.Mazhitov, V.V. Ovsyannikov, M.H.Sadykova, F.A.Sungatov, R.B.Ismagilov and others. By 2017, the museum has more than 6 thousand exposition units, divided into archeological, ethnographic and paleontological collections. Since 2012, there has been a permanent archeological expedition. In 2014, it joined the Museum of Architecture of Bashkortostan as a branch. The museum publishes scientific papers on archeology and architecture development. It also holds thematic exhibitions, organizes excursions, promotes cultural heritage objects state protection, etc.
