DUVANSKY RAION
DUVANSKY RAION, located in the NE of the RB. Established on August 20, 1930. Abolished on February 1, 1963, the territory became part of Salavatsky Raion. Newly established on November 4, 1965. Territory — 3,243 km2. Adm. centre — Selo Mesyagutovo, which is located 233 km NE of Ufa and 72 km NW from the Suleya Railway Station (Chelaybinsk Obl.). Population — 31.0 thous. people (2017).
In 2018, the area of agricultural lands amounted to 96.3 thous. ha (29.7% of the total area), including arable lands — 67.3, hayfields — 9.4, pastures — 19.9; forest area — 191.7 and surface waters — 2.3. Agricultural enterprises [11 medium and small; 83 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in the cultivation of grain crops, and dairy and meat cattle breedings. Pig breeding and horse breeding are well developed. On the ter ritory of the Raion, there are: Duvansky Plants Testing Site, a hatchery and poultry station, a breeding enterprise in Duvan, Mesyagu tovsky Canned Milk Factory, MUP Duvanvodokanal, a wheat reception enterprise, a motor transport enterprise, etc. Highways: Birsk—Tastuba—Satka (Chelyabinsk Obl.) and Kropachevo (Chelyabinsk Obl.)— Mesyagutovo—Achit (Sverdlovsk Obl.).
There are: Duvan Multidisciplinary College, Mesyagutovsky Pedagogical College; 22 educational institutions, including a gymnasium, a lyceum, 10 general education schools, 2 kindergartens, 8 branches; the Republic Boarding Lyceum, 19 pre school educational institutions, 2 music schools, House of Pioneers and Schoolchildren; a central hospital, a rural hospital, 5 outpatient clinics, 21 medical and obstetrical centers, Ay Health Resort and a Dispensary, a racecourse stadium; 22 clubs and 20 libraries. In the Raion, there are 2 exemplary and 13 folk amateur art groups.
