RAILWAY TRANSPORT

RAILWAY TRANSPORT, the type of transport that performs the carriage of passengers and cargo (oil and petroleum products account for more than 50%) by railways. By designation, it is classified as general use R.t. and industrial R.t. The carriage of cargo and passengers is performed by the Bashkir Branch of Kuibyshev Railway and by the South-Ural Railway. The operational length of the R.t. tracks of general use, crossing the territory of the Republic, is approx. 1.5 thous. km. Approx. 120 companies have their own rolling stock and access railway tracks (more than 600 km).
