ISHIMBAYSKY RAION
ISHIMBAYSKY RAION, located in the central part of the RB. Established on March 20, 1937 due to the disamalgamation of the Sterlitamaksky and Makarovsky raions of the BASSR, along with the separation of Rabochy Posyolok Ishimbay from Sterlitamak. Abolished on February 10, 1940, territory became part of Makarovsky and Sterlitamaksky raions. Newly established on January 13, 1965. Territory — 4,003 km2. Adm. centre — Ishimbay, which is located 160 km S of Ufa and 10 km NE of the Salavat Railway Station. Population — 22.2 thous. people (2017).
In 2018, the area of agricultural lands amounted to 95.3 thous. ha (26.8% of the total area), including arable lands — 41.4, hayfields — 19.8, pastures — 34.1; forest areas — 289.3 and surface waters — 1.3. Agricultural enterprises [7 OOOs, 68 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in the cultivation of grain and tech. crops, vegetable growing, meat and dairy cattle breeding and pigs breeding. Bee-keeping is well-developed.
Oil production is carried out by Bashneft—Dobycha branch of the ANK Bashneft, while stone salt, limestone are carried out by AO Syryevaya Kompaniya (Company). Highways: Sterlitamak—Beloretsk, Ishimbay—Krasnousolsky and Ishimbay— Voskresenskoye—Meleuz cross the territory. There are: a vocational school, 35 general education schools, 19 pre-school educational institutions and 47 groups, 3 institutions of additional education; Children’s Arts School; anorphanage(Petrovskoye),theInsight CentreforPsychological,Medicaland Social Counseling; 3 hospitals, 4 outpatient hospitals,36MedicalandObstetrical Centers; 45 clubs, 39 libraries, A.-Z.Validi’ Museum (Selo Kuzyanovo), I.G.Gizzatullin’ Museum (Selo Nizhnearmetovo), and A.B.Mukhametkulov’ Museum (Selo Makarovo), a local history museum and a national cultural centre. There are also 19 folk and 7 exemplary amateur art groups.
