WILDLIFE RESERVES
WILDLIFE RESERVES, part of state, natural, the category of specially protected natural areas, where certain types of economic activities are permanently or temporarily prohibited for the purpose of preservation or restoration of natural complexes or their components and in order to maintain the ecological balance. Depending on the protected site, they are divided into biological, landscape, geological, hydrological, etc. 27 W.r. are organized in the Republic, including 7 botanical, 17 zoological and 3 landscape W.r. of 409.1 thous. ha total area (2021). The first W.r. in the territory of Bashkortostan is Shingak-Kul (1952). Usen-Ivanovsky Botanical W.r. and others were created in order to preserve the gene pool, valuable phytocenoses and to rationally use plants, including medicinal plants and rare plant species. Altyn Solok, Kungak, Nakazbashevsky and other W.r are established to preserve and restore the populations of game and rare animal species. Pervomaiskiy, Uraltau, and others. Landscape W.r. were created to protect and restore natural complexes.
