ZARIPOV, Nur (Nurmukhamet) Talipovich [15.6.1925 in Derevnya Kuzyanovo, Sterlitamaksky Canton of the BASSR (now Ishimbaysky Raion of the RB) — 6.9.1997 in Ufa] was a folklorist and literary critic. Candidate of Philological Sciences (1964). Merited Scientist of the BASSR (1982). Member of the Union of Writers of the RB. Laureate of the BASSR Award named after Salavat Yulayev (1987). Awarded with the Order of Patriotic War, 2nd Class (1985). Participant in the Great Patriotic War. Graduated from the Timiryazev Bashkir Ped. Institute in 1951 and Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the CPSU in Moscow in 1962. Between 1957—59 and since 1964 he worked in the Institute of History, Language and Literature. Scientific work is dedicated to the history of the Bashkir literature, folklore genres (fairy tales, historical epic) and monuments of the Bashkir literature. Z. is the Chief Editor of the Bashkir Folk Art collection and one of the compilers of the Bashkor- tostan Khalyk Izhady collection. One of the authors of the following books: History of Bashkir Soviet Literature: Essays (1967) and History of Bashkir Soviet Literature (1977).
