ZILAIRSKY RAION
ZILAIRSKY RAION, located on the S of the RB. Established on August 20, 1930. Abolished on February 1, 1963, and became part of Khaybullinsky Raion. Newly established on November 4, 1965. Territory — 5,774 km2. Adm. centre — Selo Zilair, which is located 415 km SE of Ufa and 120 km SW of the Sibay Railway Station. Population — 14.9 thous. people (2017).
In 2018, the area of agricultural lands amounted to 114.6 thous. ha (25% of the total area), including arable lands — 38.4, hayfields — 32.2, pastures — 49.9; forest area — 370.6 and surface waters — 1.4. Agricultural enterprises [3 MUSPs, 160 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in the cultivation of grain, fodder crops, and meat and dairy cattle breeding. Horse breeding and beekeeping are well developed. On the territory of the Raion there are: Urkassky Forestry Enterprise, Zilairsky and Kananikolsky forestry enterprises, OOO Union of Lumberman. There are: OOO Bashinformsvyaz, Vodokanal, Zilairskoye Selenergo, etc. Highways: Magnitogorsk (Chelyabinsk Obl.)— Ira, Yuldybayevo—Akyar—Sara (Orenburg Obl.) and Zilair—Kananikolskoye—Starosubkhangulovo.
There are: Zauralsky College of Agricultural Engineering, 22 educational institutions, 8 pre school educational institutions, a children’s arts school, a youth sports school; a central hospital, 21 medical and obstetrical centers; 23 clubs, 15 libraries, the I.I.Dilmukhametov Memorial House and a local history museum. In the Raion, there are 22 folk amateur art groups.
