ZILIM

ZILIM, landscape natural park of local value of area 38.1 thous. ha in the territory of Gafuriysky Raion. It was organized in order to preserve the unique natural complexes, rare animal and plant species, and to organize recreation and tourism (2005). In the territory of the W.R. there are 68 caves, including Kinderlinskaya, Oktyabrskaya, etc. Flora includes approx. 500 species of higher vascular plants, including 20 relicts (Campanula trachelium, savin juniper, meadow fescue, etc) and 13 endemics (Aco­ nitum nemorosum, Tanacetum uralense, Helianthemum baschkirorum, etc). 22 rare plant species are included in The Red List of the RB (Astragalus clerceanus, Allium obliquum, etc), of which Cypri­ pedium macranthos, Cypripedium calceolus, Stipa pennata, Koeleria sclerophylla are included in The Red List of the RF. 15 rare animal species are included in The Red List of the RF. 81 bird species nestle here, including rare species (black stork, golden eagle, Eurasian curlew, oystercatcher, spotted eagle, peregrine falcon, fish hawk, etc). The rivers are inhabited by Russian spirlin, freshwater sculpin, European grayling, etc.
