ILISHEVSKY RAION
ILISHEVSKY RAION, located in the NW of the RB. Established on January 31, 1935 due to the disamalgamation of Bakalinsky, Dyurtyulinsky and Chekmagushevsky raions of the BASSR. Territory — 1,974 km2. Adm. centre — Selo Verkhneyarkeyevo, which is located 160 km NW of Ufa and 102 km of the Buzdyak Railway Station. Population — 32.0 thous. people (2017).
In 2018, the area of agricultural lands amounted to 142.3 thous. ha (72.1% of the total area), including arable lands — 93.1, hayfields — 17.6, pastures — 31.0; forest area — 34.7, surface waters — 3.9. Agricultural enterprises [6 APCs, 5 OOOs, 57 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in the cultivation and seed production of grain crops, potatoes, sugar beet, rapeseed, sunflower, forage crops, and dairy and meat cattle breeding. Vegetable growing and bee-keeping are well-developed. 10 farms grow elite seeds. On the territory of the Raion, there are: OOO Ilishevsky Elevator, Ilishevsky KKhP, PMK Ilishevskaya, a forestry enterprise; OAO Andreyevsky Brick Plant, Ileshmoloko (Ilishevskoye Milk), Ileshkhleb (Ilishevsky Bread), Moloko (Milk), MTS Ilishevskaya, Ilishevsky branch of the Central MTS, etc. The Kazan—Ufa, Bakaly—Verkhneyarkeyevo, Dyurtyuli—Gruzdyevka, Sharan—Novobaltachevo—Andreyevka highways cross the territory. The Andreyevka pier on the Belaya River belongs to the river logistic system of the RB.
There are: Bashkir Agricultural and Technological College, 41 general education schools, a special boarding school, an orphanage for children and teenagers in Selo Isametovo, 13 pre-school educational institutions, a children’s arts school with a branch in Andreyevka, a centre of children’s creativity, a sports and health retreat centre, 2 youth sports schools; a central hospital, 4 medical outpatient clinics, 58 medical and obstetrical centers; 51 clubs, 30 libraries, a local history museum, the M.Gareyev Museum, Militia (Police) Museum, Mari Ethnic Museum in Derevnya Anachevo, and the Kara Yurga equestrian centre. There are: 2 exemplary and 9 folk amateur art groups.
