IMASHEVA, Galiya Shakirovna (17.5.1915, Kamen-on-Ob of Tomsk Gub. — 5.1.1995, Ufa), Stage Designer. People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1973) and BASSR (1970), Merited Artist of the RSFSR (1955) and BASSR (1943). Laureate of the RSFSR State Award named after K.S.Stanislavsky (1967). Awarded with the Order of the Badge of Honour (1949, 1971). After graduating from the Bashk. Technical School of Arts (1934), she worked as a stage designer at the Baymak kolkhoz-sovkhoz theater, since 1936 — at BSAT, since 1944 — at the Uchaly kolkhoz-sovkhoz theater, in 1946 — 88 — as Chief Stage Designer at BSAT. She was one of the founders of the stage design profession in Bashkortostan. In I.’s works, the ethnographic details of everyday life were transformed into the metaphorical and allegorical images characteristic of the traditional national world perception. The colour expression enhanced the emotional fullness and psychology of the stage action. She also worked in the fields of painting and graphics.
