KARIMOV, Marat Nabiyevich (b.9.1. 1930 in Derevnya Salikhovo, Zilairsky Canton of the BASSR, now Derevnya Kugarchi, Zianchurinsky Raion of the RB). People’s poet of the RB (2003). Merited Worker of Culture of the RB (1994). Awarded with the Order of Salavat Yulayev (2017). Member of the Union of Writers of the RB. Graduated from the Central Komsomol School under the Central Committee of the Komsomol in 1956, Higher Literature Courses under the Gorky Literature Institute (both — in Moscow in 1961). Since 1947, Teacher at Kugarchinskaya junior secondary school; since 1949, Department Head of the Zianchurinsky Raion Committee of the AllUnion Leninist Young Communists League; since 1953, Employee at the Leninets newspaper; between 1957—85, worked at the Vily magazine; between 1964—68, Chief Editor of the Pioneer magazine. Since 1986, worked in the PO Bashneft. Between 1988—89, Editor at the State Committee of the BASSR on TV and Radio Broadcasting. Between 1993—94, Employee at the Vek newspaper (all — in Ufa). Between 1999—2004, Senior Literary Adviser at the Union of Writers of the RB. Author of the following poetics collections: The Echoes of My Days (1981), When You Are There for Me (2005), etc. Collections of stories: God Marks the Crook (1968), Laughing-Stock (1998), etc. The creative works by K. were translated into Bulgarian, Kazakh, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian and other languages.
