KARMASKALINSKY RAION
KARMASKALINSKY RAION, located in the central part of the RB. Established on August 20th, 1930. Included some volosts of Ufimsky Canton. Between 1935— 56, part of the territory belonged to Buzovyazovsky Raion. Territory — 1,751 km2. Adm. centre – Selo Karmaskaly, which is located 50 km SE of Ufa and 12 km from the Karlaman Railway Station. Population — 49.8 thous. people (2017).
In 2017, the area of agricultural lands amounted to 118.0 thous. ha (67% of the total area), including arable lands — 70.3, hayfields — 14.4, pastures — 26; forest area — 35.0 and sur- face waters — 1.9. Agricultural enterprises [the Artemis Breeding Farm, ZAO Alatau, the Solnechny (Sunny) Buzovyaz Fruit Farm, 60 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in the cultivation of grain crops, sugar beet, and milk and meat cattle breeding. Bee-keeping is well‑developed. On the territory, there is the Karmaskalinsky Variety Testing Site. Oil field development is performed by NGDU Ufaneft and OOO Bashneft—Dobycha under OAO ANK Bashneft. Also, there are: Karmaskalinskoye Linear Production Administration of Main Gas Pipelines of OOO Gazprom Transgaz Ufa, Bashkirsky Kirpich (Bashkir Brick; Derevnya Kabakovo), Mechanical Repair Plant (Derevnya Ulukulevo), a branch of Bashkiravtodor, Karmaskalinsky Bakery Production Association, etc. The Kuibyshev Railway (Dyoma—Tyulgan and Karlaman—Beloretsk sections) and highways: Ufa—Orenburg, Ufa—Inzer–Beloretsk and Karmaskaly—Adzitarovo—Tolbazy cross the territory.
There are: Ufa Cynologists Training School under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RF (Derevnya Lyakhovo), a branch of Aurgazinsky Multidisciplinary College, 21 general schools with 12 branches, 16 preschool educational institutions, an inter‑school educational centre, a children’s school of arts, House of Pioneers and Secondary School Students, Center of Children’s Technical Activities, youth’ sports school; a central hospital and 2 rural hospitals, 3 outpatient hospitals, 42 medical and obstetrical centers; 39 cultural and leisure institutions, 30 libraries, the M.Umetbayev, M.M.Shaymuratov (Selo Shaymuratovo), Sh.Bikkul (Derevnya Karlaman), S.T.Aksakov (Derevnya Staryye Kiyeshki), and A.F.Yurtov (Selo Ilteryakovo) museums, the Chuvash History and Culture Centre (Selo SuukChishma); Our Ancestors’s Kray Bashkir Exhibition Hall (Derevnya Starobabichevo); the Yashlek Sports and Fitness Centre, the Karmaskalinsky Sports and Fitness Centre and the Victoria Children’s Health Camp. There are 3 exemplary and 9 folk amateur art groups.
