KIYEKBAYEV, Dzhelil Giniatovich (25.10.1911, Derevnya Karan‑Ilga of Sterlitamaksky Uyezd of Ufa Gub., now Derevnya Karan‑Elga of Gafuriysky Raion of the RB, — 19.3.1968, Ufa), Linguist, Turkologist, Writer. Doctor of Letters (1961), Full Professor (1961). Merited Scientist of the BASSR (1967). Awarded with the Order of Lenin (1967) and the Badge of Honour (1961). Graduated from the Moscow Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages (1937). Since 1938, he worked at the Ufa Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages (Deputy Director), since 1941 — at the Bashkir Pedagogical Institute named after K.A.Timiryazev, since 1942 — at the Saitbaba secondary school of Gafuriysky Raion (as Principal), since 1943 — at Bashgosizdat (Editor‑in‑chief), between 1944—53 — at the UAI, simultaneously between 1949— 68 — at the BSU (in 1957—61 — as ViceRector for academic work). His scientific work was associated with the problems of the Bashkir and comparative historical linguistics and Turkology. The author of the Phonetics of the Bashkir language book. He translated The Grammar of the Bashkir language into the Bashk. language. He published his first poems under the pseudo‑name of “Jalil Tabyn”. The Author of novel Relatives and Acquaintances (1975, in the Bask. language), children’s book Forest Fairy-tales (1954, in the Bask. language); kubairs About the Great Patriotic War, About a Friend, etc. Deputy of the 7th Session of the Supreme Council of the BASSR. Streets in Ufa and in Selo Krasnousolsky of Gafuriysky Raion were named after K.
