KINZYA (Kinye), a novel. Written in 1977–2003 by G.G.Ibragimov, it consists of three books: The Trampled Dzaylau (1977), The Leader of the Clan (1987), and The Senator of the People’s Tsar (2009). It tells us about the events of the Peasant War of 1773–75 and about the life and work of Kinzya Arslanov, the central character. The image of sesen Kunkas, the spiritual mentor of the masses is presented very colorfully. The idea of national freedom, independence and social justice is seen as the underlying leitmotif of the novelchronicle which skillfully combines artistry and documentaryism. The innovative qualities of the novel are expressed in a wide variety of historic events, in its ideologically‑artistic concepts, its genre specificity and the poetry style of the artist. It presents a uniquely philosophical understanding of the life of the Bashkir people. For the novel, the author was awarded the RB State Award named after Salavat Yulayev (1983). The namesake feature film series based on this novel, (1986–88; directed by A.G.Abdrazakov, script by F.G.Biishev), as well as a feature‑documentary film Kinzya Abyz. Kinzya Arslanov – The Batyr and Leader (2007; directed by A.A.Nurmukhametov, script by S.R.Surin) were created. Literary translation into Russian was done by R.B.Akhmedov.
