CINEMA NETWORK
CINEMA NETWORK, a chain of cultural enterprises which show films to the public. It consists of actual cinemas theatres, cinema installations in clubs and portable film theatres. The first show of film in Ufa took place on 28 September, 1901. The actual cinema industry of Bashkortostan was formed between the 1920—30s. In 1924, the first portable film installation appeared which was attached as part of the troupe of the Bashkir Drama Theatre. In the 1930s, Cinema expands and there begins the training of film projectionists in the cities of Kazan, Samara, and Ufa. State cinema was represented by city‑based cinema with narrow‑band projectors and portable film installations. The first soundfilm system appeared in 1932 at the Palace of Labor and the Arts (ref. Aksakov Folk House). During the Great Patriotic War, many film‑showing installations stopped serving the population. In the 1950s, cinema installations were widely distributed in clubs, recreation centres, schools, and collective and state farms. The number of silent films had sharply decreased and, in 1956, a widescreen cinema installation appeared in the Oktyabr (Ufa) Theater. At the beginning of the 90s, all rural films were transferred to municipal ownership but remained state‑owned. However, in the late 1990s, a number of cinema theatres were privatized.
