KORNILAYEV,  Sergey  Grigoryevich (b.20.2.1955 in Selo Chuvash‑Kubovo of Iglinsky Raion of the BASSR), Athlete. Merited Master of Sports (free‑style wrestling) of the USSR (1978). Awarded with the Order of Friendship (1985). A trainee of the Trudoviye Reservy (Labour Reserve), and Trud (Labour) Voluntary Sports Society (both – Moscow; Coach – V.I.Barinov). Bronze Medalist of the Olympic Games (1980), the World Champion (1978–79, 1981–82), Winner of the World Cups (1978, 1981), European Champion (1984) and the USSR Champion (1977–79, 1981–82), Silver Medalist of the European Championship (1977). Member of the USSR National Team (1976–87).
