KULMUKHAMETOV, Azamat Rakhmetovich (b.6.8.1953 in Ufa), Diplomat. Awarded with the Order of Courage (2013). Graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (1976). Since 1978, Attache of the General Consulate of the USSR in Aleppo (Syria), since 1982, Attache, 3rd Secretary of the Middle East Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, since 1987 2nd Secretary at the Embassy of the USSR in Egypt, since 1988 – 1st Secretary, Advisor at the Middle East Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, since 1993 – Advisor of the Embassy of the RF in Jordan, since 1998 – Head of Department, Deputy Dir. of the Middle East and North Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the RF, since 2003 – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the RF in Kuwait, since 2008 – Deputy Dir. of the Middle East and North Africa Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the RF, since 2011 – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the RF in Syria, since 2015 – special representative of the RF in the contact group on the settlement of the situation in Ukraine.
