GALLIFORMES
GALLIFORMES, an order of birds. There are 7 families, out of which 1 has gone extinct, and about 270 species. There are 6 species of Tetraoninae and Phasianidae families in the RB. Non‑migratory or nomadic, and rarely migratory birds of small (quail has body length up to 18 cm and body mass range of 70–155 g), average (male blackcock has body length up to 55 cm and body mass range of 900–1500 g) and large (male heather cock has body length up to 87 cm and body mass range of 2.7–5.1 kg) sizes. They mostly feed on plants and insects. They inhabit forests, steppes, meadows, draws and ravines, fields, backlog lands, wetlands, and river floodplains. They are spread throughout the whole territory of the Republic, can rarely be met in the S. Many G. are game animals. White partridge is included in The Red List of the RB.
