KUSIMOV, Tagir Taipovich [14.2.1909, Derevnya Kusimovo of Verkhnyeuralsky Uyezd of Orenburg Gub. (Abzelilovsky Raion of the RB) – 10.5.1986, Ufa], Cavalryman, Major General (1969). Hero of the Soviet Union (1944). Awarded with the Order of Lenin (1944, 1954), Order of the Red Flag (1949), the 1st Class Order of the Patriotic War (1985), Order of the Red Star (1942, 1944). Participant of the Great Patriotic War and the 1941 Iranian Campaign. Graduated from the Frunze Military Academy (1947), Voroshilov Higher Military Academy (1951; both — in Moscow). In the Soviet Army since 1928. Lieutenant Colonel K. was awarded the title of Hero for the courage shown the operation across the Dnieper River on September 27th, 1943 and holding the positions on right bank of the river. Between 1947—49, Сhief of Staff of the 4th Guardian Kuban Cossack Cavalry Division; since 1952 – Сhief of Staff of the 24th Guardian Mountain Infantry Division; since 1953 – Сhief of Staff of the 9th Rifle Division in the North Caucasus Military District; since 1954 – Deputy Comm. of the 71st Mountain Infantry division; since 1956 – Comm. of the 58th Motorized Rifle Division; since 1961 – Deputy Comm. of the 1st Army Corps at Turkestan Military District. Between 1963—69 – Military Commissioner of the BASSR. A streets in Baymak, Ufa and other settlements of the RB are named after K. There’s his monument in Ufa.
