KUCHEROV, Yevgeny Vasilyevich [10.5.1924, Selo Duvan of Mesyagutovsky Canton of the BASSR (Duvansky Raion of the RB) — 12.7.2005, Ufa], Botanist. Associate Member of the AS RB (1991), Dr.Nat.Sci. (Biological Sciences) (1974), Full Professor (1980). Merited Master of Sciences of the RF (1991), BASSR (1974). Awarded with the Order of the Badge of Honour (1974). Graduated from the BSAU (1946). Since 1958, he worked in the Biology Institute. Under the supervision of K., the development of Botanical Resource Science began in the Republic. More than 100 species of medicinal plants were studied, maps of their distribution made, as well as about 100 species of nectariferous plants. He researched the issues of plants introduction. He was one of the initiators of the Red List of the Bashkir ASSR (1984, 1987) and a number of protected areas (150 nature monuments and 12 wildlife sanctuaries for medicinal plants), Bashkir Branch of the Russian Botanical Society and Nature Protection Society. Editor and co‑author of The Field Guide of Higher Plants of the Bashkir ASSR (2 volumes, 1988, 1989). Kucherov’s rock jasmine was named after the scientist.
