KUSHNARENKOVSKY RAION, located in the central part of the RB. Established on August 20, 1930 as Toporninsky Raion, since March 20, 1936 has its the current name. Abolished on February 1, 1963, territory became part of Chekmagushevsky Raion. Newly established on January 13, 1965. Territory — 1,718 km2. Adm. centre — Selo Kushnarenkovo, which is located 60 km NW of Ufa. Population — 26.8 thous. people (2017).

In 2018, the area of agricultural lands amounted to 128,08 thous. ha (73.4% of the total area), including arable lands — 73, hayfields — 20, pastures — 30.8; forest area — 18.7, surface waters — 4.9. Agricultural enterprises [MUP, APC, 17 OOOs, 78 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in the cultivation of grain crops, sugar beets, dairy cattle breeding. Pig breeding and bee-keeping are well‑developed. On the territory of the raion, there are: Kushnarenkovsky Breeding Centre for Fruit and Berry Crops and Grapes, a hatchery and poultry breeding station, and a forestry enterprise. Also, there are: raion electrical networks enterprises, OOO Dorozhnik, Road Construction and Maintenance Administration, etc. Highways: Moscow—Ufa, Kushnarenkovo—Chekmagush—Bakaly, and Arslanovo—Kushnarenkovo.

There are: agricultural and multidisciplinary colleges, 11 general education schools, a gymnasium, 14 pre‑school educational institutions, a children’s music school, Gorsky Children’s Recreation, Health Retreat and Tourism Centre, a youth’s sports school; a central hospital, 3 outpatient clinics, 37 medical and obstetrical centers, a boarding house for the elderly and disabled; 28 clubs, a central library with 24 branches, a children’s library, a local history museum, and a cultural and fitness centre. There are: 7 folk and 5 exemplary amateur art groups, and 52 folklore ensembles.
