MATERIALS ON THE HISTORY OF BASHKORTOSTAN, a systematized scholarly and archeographic publication from 18th century historical sources. It was prepared by the Historical and Archeographical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (Moscow) in 1936–56 and consists of 5 volumes. In 2002, the 6th volume was published. The 1st volume (Bashkir uprisings in the 17th and first half of the 18th centuries), 1936, compiled by A.P.Chuloshnikov, contains documents on the history of the Bashkir uprisings of 1704–11, 1735–40, etc. The 2nd volume is unpublished; it was prepared by A.P.Chuloshnikov, N.K.Dmitriyev, Sh.I.Tipeyev) contains documents on the history of the 1755—56 Bashkir uprising. The 3–6th volumes were compiled by N.F.Demidova. In the 3rd volume (Economic and social rela- tions in Bashkiriya in the first half of the 18th century), 1949, Editor‑in‑Chief – B.D.Grekov, a facsimile of four documents was first published. The 4th volume (Economic and social relations in Bashkiriya and the Orenburg Kray Administration in the 1750–70s) consists of 2 parts. The 1st part (1956) includes documents on the history of land relationship and the Appendix. The 2nd part (1956) includes documents on the history of mining, plants development and Military Service of the Bashkirs. The 5th volume (Bashkiriya in the last quarter of the 18th century), 1956, the 4–5th volumes Editor‑in‑Chief is N.V.Ustyugov, includes documents on the social and economic history of the region in the 18th century and the Appendix. The 6th volume (Orenburg Expedition and Bashkir Uprisings in the 1730s), Editor‑in‑Chief – Yu.M.Absalyamov, includes documents on the history of the 1734–44 Orenburg Expedition, the founding of Orenburg, the 1735–40‑s Bashkir uprisings and the Appendix, containing biographical information and a list of N.F.Demidova scholarly publications. Each volume contains documents facsimiles in Turkic, spacing indexes, terminology vocabulary, comments, tables (Bashkir tamgas) and maps. These documents are from the funds of the Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts, the Russian State Military Historical Archive, the Russian State Historical Archive, the Russian State Archive of the Navy, the State Historical Museum (all – in Moscow), the National Archive of the RB in Ufa, and the Chelyabinsk Obl. State Archive (Chelyabinsk).
