MEDICAL UNIVERSITY, the Bashkir state‑owned institution under the Ministry of Health of the RF. Founded in Ufa in 1932 under the name of Bashkir State Medical Institute (since 1933 it has acquired the honorary title of the 15th Anniversary of the All‑Union Leninist Young Communists League), since 1995 — the current status, since 2012 — the current name. The University comprises 5 departments (Medicine; Pediatrics; Dentistry; Pharmaceutics; Prevention Medicine with Microbiology Section), the College of Medicine, a volunteering centre, etc. Full‑time and part‑time training are available. There are: internship training programs, residency training programs, and councils for defense of Doctoral and Candidate’s theses. Between 2007—13, there was published more than 700 monographs, textbooks, manuals, etc. The Medical Vestnik (Bulletin) of Bashkortostan, Creative Surgery and Oncology scientific and practical journals and Medik newspaper are published. More than 35 thous. specialists have graduated from the university by 2013. The 2nd building of the BSMU is a monument of history and architecture. During the Great Patriotic War it housed the evacuated First Moscow Order of Lenin Med. Institute.
