DEPOSITS OF NON-METALLIC MINERAL RESOURCES

DEPOSITS OF NON-METALLIC MINERAL RESOURCES, accumulations of non‑combustible hard rocks and minerals, used in natural form or after industrial pro‑cessing, in industry and construction as well as for extraction of non‑metallic elements or their compounds from them. The boundary separating non‑metallic and metallic minerals is conventional. Different types of non‑metallic minerals have been explored in Bashkortostan. Limestone, dolomite, gypsum, construction clays and sands, and sand‑gravel mixes are widely spread in the platform part of the Republic. Rock salt, manganese limestone, and phosphorites are less common. The limestone from the Shakhtau Deposit, developed by OAO Bashkir Soda Company is of great importance. Gypsum from the Seleukskoye Deposit in the Ishimbaysky Raion, the Tyulko‑Tyubinskoye Deposit in the Iglinsky Raion, the Sandinskoye Deposit in the suburbs of Kumertau) is used in construction business. The Yar‑Bishkadakskoye Deposit (in the Ishimbaysky Raion), operated by OAO Bashkir Soda Company, is the largest among the deposits of rock salt. Large stone salt deposits were also discovered in the Iglinsky Raion, where the Ulutelyak ore cluster is also located, accommodating the namesake Ulutelyak De‑posit and a number of manifestations of manganese limestone — high‑quality fluxes for ferrous metallurgy and raw materials for chemical industry. The deposits of fluorite (Suranskoye), fluxing limestone (Pugachyovskoye), barite (Kuzhinskoye), magnesite (Ismakayevskoye, etc), quartzite (Yandyk, Kirel, Malinivoye), chemical pure quartz (Karayanovskoye and Novo‑Troitskoye), construction stone, roofing shale (Lysogorskoye), marmorized limestone (Inzerskoye, etc), mineral iron‑oxide pigments (Tukanskoye) are explored in the mountaneous part of the Republic. The deposits of fluxing limestone (Khudolazovskoe, etc) and cement limestone (Almukhametovskoye), building stone and facing stone of diorites (Sangalykskoye), granite (Mansurovskoye and Tashmurunskoye), gabbroids (Shra‑tau, etc), dolerites (Sev.‑Buskunskoye); pyrophyllite (Kul‑Yurt‑Tau), talc (Kuzma‑Demyanovskoye, etc), asbestos (Abdulkasimovskoye, etc), marmorized limestone (Yangelskoye), ornamental stone (jasper, serpentinite, rhodonite, listvenite and nephrite), deposits of tripolite and opoka were discovered in the Bashkir Trans‑Urals. The basalt strata are potentially productive of mineral wool. More than 10 deposits of carbonate raw materials, 9 — seat clay, high‑melting clay and clay for cement industry, brown coal — 5, talcum and pyrophyllite — 4, natural facing stones — 2, jasper — 7, etc. are in the list.
